I'm looking to build my first 9mm AR. Bit confused with all the 9mm blocks out there, but I'm leaning towards Spike's since it supports a bolt hold with the correct, albeit expensive, mags. So what 9mm specific parts do I need? Required parts with my choice: 9mm magwell block: Spike's Tactical Enhanced 9mm magwell block 9mm buffer: ST-9X 9mm heavy buffer 9mm bolt: CMMG Enhanced Ramped 9mm bolt assembly Mags 9mm barrel Optional parts: 9mm upper receiver What else do I need? no gas block, right? no special 9mm hammer with the CMMG bolt Did I miss anything? |
Double check with CMMG about use of a "notched" AR hammer (i'm talking about the notch at the top of the hammer face), we have seen trouble with them. The smooth rounded "DPMS" type hammer (M16 style without the sear hook) works fine, as well as most 2 stage NM type triggers. Other than that, looks good. Have fun with it.
