| I have a Yankee hill railed forearm I need to install. Are there any tips to installing it, to get the rails on the forearm to line up with the rails on the upper reciever? I do not have a detachable carry handle to use to help line it up. |
I normally use some type of mount to get it started but I allways use my eye for final placement. Just get it close then snug it up. Then eyeball it and finish tightening it making sure it is GTG when you are done. I do this with every rail I have ever done. Often after I tighten it with a mount I look down the rail and upper and they are close but rarely perfect could be the rail or upper is slightly out of spec but I see it and do my best to get it as even as I can.

If you have anti rotation screws tighten them before the jam nut. It's easier to keep the top rails aligned with the screws secure first rather than doing the jam nut first.
Also, Magpul AFG's work great for holding the rail is alignment (just like using a carry handle), however, with YHM's it's easy enough to do without that. The nice thing about YHM's is as long as the barrel nut and gas tube are correctly aligned everything else falls into place and the rails are straight. |
I used the brownells alignment jig on my last build; worked well.
