| Are these still necessary when using a drop in trigger group like a timney? I know you still need pins but will they still serve the same non-rotating purpose? |

Quoted:
The problem is not the pins moving out. The problem is hardened steel pins rotating in holes of aluminum lower. Sooner or later the holes will get worn out. Cite one example where this has happened… I have seen 20yr old training weapons that have had the barrels shot out more than once that have experienced NO problem with trigger pins “wallering” out the holes in the receiver. It’s a non-problem… there is no need for them. They have more to do with looks than function. And they don’t hurt anything unless you use them in a high quality FCG that came with proprietary pins… then you can actually damage the trigger group by using them. The OP’s question was “are they necessary”… and the answer is no. |

Quoted: In some rare cases, like mine, you buy a LPK thats has totally out of spec pins and they literally walk out of the lower, then you need them. No, you need in spec pins. One way to get in spec pins is to get the anti-rotational ones, but you don't NEED the anti-rotation feature. |
