How do you tune the gas tube allignment on an AR?  What is the exact standard for "alligned"?

I understand that the barrel nut must be correctly timed...that is not an issue but on a couple of my builds, you can feel the carrier engage the gas tube and hear a "ping" when it hits.  It passes the drop test and slids on freely but it still seems a bit out of allignment with the carrier key.

I saw a thread where it was advised to use a screwdriver to bend it left or right...but what about vertical adjustment?  I have an upper that you can see the carrier rise slightly when the key engages the tube.  How would you fix that?

Install the carrier in the upper receiver sans bolt, firing pin, cam pin and firing pin retaining pin. Use the carrier as fulcrum with a large flat blade screwdriver to move the gas tube down (towards the lower receiver) as shown in the top photo.

I adjusted one yesterday, by removing the handguards, and tweaking the tube by hand.
