I am just starting my first AR build. I figured some people may want to follow along and Ill update with pictures as I go.

I plan on doing a Midlength 13.7 or 14.5 barrel with a permed fh(most likely 5C2). Im trying to decide on a barrel and which rail still. The only 14.5" Midlength barrel in stock that I can find is the Noveske Afgan and thats $450, plus $60 for a 5C2 and getting it perm attached. I may just get the 16" Midlength from BCM and have it cut and threaded for $65 so the barrel would be under $300. Im pretty sure Im going to go with a lo pro gas block, I dont like the idea of the post being in the way of optics at all. Although I really dont like 12" rails, I prefer a 9 or 10" so Id have to go 10" with some of the gas block sticking out.

So far I have a Mega Lower and Stag Arms LPK.(Ill put up pictures today or tomorrow)
Im going to send out the trigger parts to Bill Springfield to get a smooth 4lb trigger pull.

As I was typing this my Mega Stripped Upper Receiver just got here. Looks really good.

I have a BCM BCG(auto) and GF Charging Handle on the way and should be here in the next few days.

Im still trying to decide on which color combo I want so I havent ordered a Pistol Grip, or stock. Im still trying to decide between painting the receiver housing a gunmetal or goldish/copperish color or leaving it black and filling in the Mega and Symbol with white.

For the Stock Im going to go with either the CTR or ACS with the spikes ST-T2 buffer. So Ill order that once I decide on the color of the stock.

I have three mega lower receivers, one of them the new billet.

My most current build is going to be an SBR with the LaRue UDE kit. Have you looked at picking one up?

You are my Hero, I love that. The only problem is I think Id prefer the MIAD grip. I could live with the MOE until something else comes out.

Any specific reason you are looking to go with the MIAD? The MOE fits my hand just as well as the MIAD, and it is one solid piece.

Not specifically, just like the adjustments, I'll probably get the UDE kit and if for some reason I dont like it, I can always worry about it later.

Here is the Upper Receiver, Ill post pictures of the Lower when I get home.

Put an order in with Spikes today. I have a Mil-Spec Buffer tube with the ST-T2 Buffer, Ambi Saftey Switch, Block Worx for assembly, Midlength Mil Spec Gas Tube, and a black Magpul MOE Trigger guard.

Next will probably be the Larue UDE Kit or Barrel(If I can make a decision)

My BCM BCG and GF Charging Handle are at the Post Office waiting for my pick up. I put in my order today for the Larue UDE kit and some UDE Pmags. I ordered some Solder and Heat Shield so I can solder on the FH.

Now I just need to get a Barrel, Flash Hider, Rail, BUIS and not sure what else. Im sending in my trigger to Bill Springfield soon. Also need to get an Armorers wrench and other tools like punches and a brass punch.

I will do my best, It might be a while now. Waiting on a 14.5" Midlength barrel. Addax was working on it from Sabre but theyre busy with SHOT at the moment. Hopefully that will be in within the next 4 weeks, and Im leaning towards a Larue rail at the moment. Most likely 10in. Theres not much else I need other than BUIS and a Armorers Wrench.

Ill send out my trigger to Bill Springfield soon, just need to do it.

Optics will be down the road after gun is completed. Im leaning towards Aimpoint at this point in time. Probably cantilever mount and a 3x to add further down the road.

Update!!

I received my 14.5" mid length Sabre barrel, chrome lined, 1/7 twist from a guy on EE. Has 600 rounds through it. i have my silver flux and heat stop so I will eventually solder on the flash hider.

I have a YHM Phantom 5C1 on the way and just ordered a set of black Magpul BUIS.

Once my tax returns come Ill order a Larue 10" rail with their lo pro gas block. Im still trying to decide on a Magpul ASAP or DD QD Ambi sling plate.

Then its just a barrel nut, armorers wrench and some punches. Getting pretty darn close.

Optics will come later. Im leaning heavily towards a T-1 at the moment.

edit*** Just looked at my bank account and my Return already came through. Talk about quick. I guess Ill be finishing this quicker than I expected.

Ok Big Update with Pictures to make up for the lack of them.

This is what I have recieved this week, sorry there are no boxes, or the extras from larue if thats what you wanted, its straight to the point. Plus I was too exited and was ripping open boxes like a kid on Christmas.
From Larue: 10in Rail, Gas Block, and 3 more UDE P-Mags
BCM: Gunfighter Charging Handle(I got this a long time ago but never posted pictures sorry, I also have their BCG)
14.5" Sabre Barrel from a guy on EE(600 rounds through it, 1/7, Chrome Lined)
Magpul: Back Up Sights
Finally a PWS FSC556(I decided to get this even though I already had a 5C1 on the way, I may keep that for the heck of it or sell it on EE)

Their Rails are just so beautiful.

Was going to go troy but decided to save some money at this point(Not sure why, havent at all on this build) Ill have a T-1 or ML3 so whatever, may upgrade in the future. Plus I like the way they look on top of it.

Like I said, I ordered the 5C1, then said F it and wanted the better combo. Should help a lot with muzzle rise which is more important than seeing me shoot at night.(at this point)

This is what my barrel assembly with look like once I pin everything.(Ill probably just tighten down the gas block with the set screws and the loctite it came with.

Finally.... this is essentially what my upper will look like, plus the MBUS, and Magpul UDE rail covers. Then eventually the Optic. Im really liking it, its all that I imagined it would be. The only thing is I wish the colors of the barrel and FSC556 matched and the gas block as well.

Magpul ASAP plate, Ranger Plates and BAD should be here next week along with my Armorers Wrench. Sent out my trigger parts to Bill Springfield today, I procratinated for no reason so now I have to wait till those get back to start the build. Other than that, I think I have everything to start the build once those are here. I ordered an Olight M20 R2 that should be here next week also as my weapon light, just need to order a mount for it which is $20, just dont know if I want offset or standard mount. Oh I also ordered an AFG to try it out.

Got some more goodies this past week. Got my trigger parts back from Bill Springfield today. This means I should be able to start building it. Although my plans may have changed for my furniture on the rifle. I love the UDE but Im thinking about selling the UDE kit and getting a CTR, MOE Grip and sending that with some mags to get coated in a digital camo like on travis haleys gun, although I may do it in grays instead of tans.

Here are some pics of the new stuff.

Magpul AFG, Magpul ASAP, Ranger Plates.

This is what the mags and ranger plates look like.

Got an Olight M20 and a offset mount.

This is how the light comes stock.

The clip and such is removable for when you mount it to the weapon.

Hopefully Ill get the gasblock set on saturday and possibly the FSC556 soldered on. I can probably get the lower put together, and then next week Ill get it somewhere with a Vise and put her together. Im pretty excited to get this thing done.

Here are a couple teaser pics. I also have a MOE Grip but it was in the car and I wasnt going to go get it. Ill be sending out the Stock, Grip and 4 magazines to get coated this week in either Grey Digital or Desert Digital. I just found out that my cousin is doing coating so Im going to call him tomorrow and see what he does. I also found out tonight that my parents are in a small group at Church with the owner of Trijicon and my step dad is in a bible study with him(Going to try and score something, he said doubtful, although I could get a tour of the plant atleast)

This is the first lower Ive built, It was rather simple. I did lose one detent on the front takedown, it went into the light in the ceiling lol. Also I had a problem with the safety selector going in but got it figured out. I didnt put one scratch on it which I was thankful for being my first build and all.
