I just tried to install my new 5c2 and when i get it hand tight it goes past the spot where its supposed to line up. I cant tighten it the 3/4 turn it needs to go. Do i need a new crush washer?

You only mention hand tight, and don't mention a wrench.

Crush washer is fine.  Use a wrench and crank it the 270 degrees (or more if needed) to line it up right.  It WILL do it.

You know that CW's aren't really recyclable, right? They're (usually) a one shot deal.

When I  tried getting it the rest of the way with a wrench it only turned another 45 degrees before i was practically hanging off the thing.  Should it take a huge amount of force to get it over? I thought they were only supposed to be tightened to 20 to 25 ft-lbs.

No they're not.  They are perfectly fine for multiple on/off cycles.

It shouldn't take a HUGE amount of force.  How do you have the upper/barrel secured?
Is your crush washer in the correct direction?  As in, wide mouth-end facing out toward muzzle? (trumpet end facing downrange)
This is normally a pretty simple procedure.

I carved out some 2X4's to fit the receiver and secured it in a vice. The CW was on the right way.

Not sure what to tell ya then.  Maybe try the progressive tighten/loosen approach, but a CW doesn't usually need that.

How is it that you have 12k posts and you still don't know the first thing about building a rifle?  He has a new 5C2. The crush washer he used on his previous muzzle device may happen to work with his new 5C2, but most likely has already been crushed beyond what will work. They crush they don't spring back (much). Yes, you can reuse a CW on the same barrel and MD multiple times, but when changing out one part of the equation, the rest doesn't add up.

Crush washers are supposed to be single use items.  Once torqued into place, they should not be reused.  Yes, you often can get away with reusing them.  I recently had one that was just unusually resistant to compressing and a different new one solved the problem.
Crush washer.
