I've done a few searches, I really couldn't come up with much. Just wondering how much your AR's weigh? Also, what is considered a *Heavy* or a *Light* rifle? I did the weigh myself on the scale without my rifle and then weigh myself with the rifle test, I'm at ruffly 8 or 8.5lbs unloaded. Thanks for the input!

I have AR Pistols that weigh about 4 lbs... I have 16" lightweight barreled AR
Carbines that weigh just under 6 lbs all the way up to a decked out super heavy 16"
barreled carbine / with launcher and optics that weighs in at 13 lbs. That's too heavy
to serve anyone short of Arnold S. But it certainly gives the impression of some serious
"Shock and Awe"..

That gives you a Light AR and a Heavy AR to the extremes..

About 8 to 8.5 lbs would be a middleweight.

A Cav Arms lower I have comes in at 4.6 pounds with a .22 dedicated Tac Sol LW upper.

Same lower with an M4 barrel comes in just under 6 pounds.

My 18in Mk12 barreled upper with A2 stock and FF hand guard comes in at 7.5 pounds without scope.

My RRA with lightweight middy barrel and EoTech is in the mid 7's

My Varmint 24" bull barrel gun runs my scale past the "Max" so its like close to 9 1/2 pounds

Some load their ARs up with a pile of "Tactical" junk and make pigs out of them. I like them light and simple, easy to carry and shoot. My ARs average around 7 pounds, a weight I don't mind tote'n.

I have a 24" hbar that is upwards of 12 lbs. With a good sling it isn't bad. My carbine with light and vfg full of batteries is around 8 and its going on a diet soon.

"is your mk12 a mod0 or mod1. just weighed my mod0 and that fat bitch is 8.8 lbs. without the scope"

I built the rifle to be a shooter so I didn't care about making it a Mk12 clone. I got a Mk 12 barrel because they shoot so darn well. I then used a plain free float tube like a RRA predator pursuit rilfe. Stock, for now is a standard A2 and will probably be replaced with an ACE to save some weight.

I wanted the accuracy of a Mk 12 but without anything extra that made the rifle weight more. This rifle will be carried into the wild for varmint elimination and needed to be simple and light but had to shoot really well. The Mk 12 barrel was just the best choice for this.

My CMP rifle is ~17 lbs.  It is filled with lead under the handguards and in the buttstock.  It makes my A1 feel like a cheap Mattel toy.

I've got a fat pig rifle thats going on a diet.

vltor casv-m with its own front sight
16in m4 profile barrel
ace heavy duty buffer tube
eotech 557
eotech 3x mag with fts mount
fenix  tk11 light
tango down front grip

fat sucker is like 10.4 Pounds!    i'm taking the casv-m off for a pistol and installing a troy rail.  tango down grip is jumping for a lightweight stubby.   flashlight is getting cut down to a Streamlight TLR series light.   and maybe trade the eotech and mag for a micro?
