I'm contemplating a build that will be used primarily for 3-gun.  I'm hoping for a 17"+ stainless barrel w/ rifle gas, FF tube, and a PWS FSC556 comp.

I'd like to attach it to a quality upper receiver.  I don't need/want a billet upper so I'm not going to buy a Vltor MUR or Rainier just because they look cool.  If I can get a quality, forged upper, I'd go with that.  Whatever I get will be lapped.

Brownells has DSA stripped uppers for a very low price, so I might try those.  They also have reasonable prices on Colt, High Standard, Wilson Combat, Armalite, and EGW.

I know that with lowers, the brand is generally a non-issue.  But, I'm more concerned about an upper receiver since the BCG rides inside of it and the sights and barrel are attached to it.

i have a DSA upper receiver. it's not bad. The finish is nice inside and out. The T stamps are not colored in, which I didn't mind that way but figured I'd let you know.
Also it fits poorly on my Anvil Arms lower, which is supposed to be a GREAT lower receiver. I used a wedge and now they mate up nice and tight, but I bet a higher quality upper would have fit snug from the start.
