Thinking of putting a Noveske KX3 on a 13 inch barrel permanently attached. This would make it 16 inches and legal right?  So the question is, is there a handguard that is long enough to cover the KX3 or most of it? If anyone has done this please post pics.

Brownells lists the length at 3-9⁄23" (8.3cm) O.A.L.

That said, you could easily do 13".  My brother posts on here as Nutro and he had a Mega upper done by ADCO that used a Larue rail, midlength cut to 13.7" and a KX3 that was attached.  The LaRue rail was long enough to cover the base of teh KX3 where it was welded.

Here's one from Cold, but I don't know if the kx3 is pinned or not:

Here's his:

I posted up a thread asking about the same thing.  It would be the 13.7" as I forgot about the threaded section of the barrel and the FH.  General opinion is it looks good but weighs too much and it's not recommended.

That is exactly what I am wanting to build, I dont mind the weight because i do not intend to use it for work, just for fun on the weekend.

Now I just have to figure out what barrel to purchase, there are too many choices. I was thinking about a chrome lined barrel because I intend on punishing it.

We can chop down a CHF barrel to 13.7", we can pin and weld the break too.

I'd get a medium or Government profile barrel.  My brothers in the pic above is a Heavy barrel and that sucker is pretty heavy.  I'd also recommend a middy barrel which is what he and I both run and love.  His is a tad heavy, but runs pretty damn well.  To date, not a single problem with cycling.  The LaRue rail is fairly light, so a smaller profile barrel will give you a little front heavy balance but will help with recoil and muzzle flip.

I had my RRA heavy barrel turned down to Govt profile and a Phantom pinned on my middy by ADCO.  With the YHM two piece rail it's ligher than expected.
