| I'm going to replace my 6920 handguards. They have the heat shields inside them. I want to add a lightweight quad rail. What should I do ? |
|
Do you have an AR-15 upper receiver action block, vice, delta ring tool, and armorer's wrench? You'll need them..
ETA: You'll need them to NOT mess up your nice colt upper and to make the job as easy as it was designed to be. What kind of rail are you going to run? |

I have a vice and slabs of thick flat aluminum, I have the armorers wrench.. I'm looking at the yankee hill 9631 edit..my son takes off the handguards easily, no scratches.. |

I don't know if this is in your price range, but the Daniel Defense Omega is an excellent lightweight quad rail that requires minimal tools to install:

My wages went back 18 years.. the YHM is high price as I can go.. |

Instructions for yankee hill 9631
need a punch and hammer for the taper pins on the sight base, probably should get something like this action block to minimize screwing up your upper, barrel wrench and bar (can't see why you'd need a torque wrench, just mark the teeth where the gas tube runs through and when reinstalling tighten to that), jam nut wrench I've got a Midwest Industries T series, installs exactly the same as the YHM, I'd recommend that but the rail was slightly too thick and it's a real pain getting rail covers and some accessories on the damn thing. |
|
Sorry about the wage cut Just curious - what are you planning to mount on the quad rail - vertical grip, weapon light, etc.? Could something like the Magpul MOE handguard with the optional bolt-on rails work for you? AR-15 Magpul MOE Handguard - Brownells |

S.T. thanks for the links !! The Midwest action block looks great ! . Does it perform as good as Brownell's (anyone) ? Midwayys is cheaper. No sense wasting money.. GMAN52 I want a vertical grip and a flashlight. I saw a grip last week as I was leaving the gunshow that activated a flashlight when you squeezed it ! I would like to put on a laser also, for "Close encounters" |

Way cheaper than even the YHM, probably lighter, and you can grip the handguard without rail covers. Its not a freefloat, but I can live with that. |

I'm checking them out, Trying to see if they have anything else I need with all the money I save for now.., not buying action block, etc.. later yes.. I Like the YHM, but for now, this looks great ! thanks everybody I'm buying, but I need help on another question that I am just listing. so I'll have one order |
