WellI I finally made it to the range. It was rainy slight windy. I was using white box Remington .223 Rem, 55 gr, solids. I was using Magpul rear MBUS, with stock A2 front sight.
First shots went about 6 inches left and 10 inches low. It was going good walking it in when I had a brain fart and turned the front sight the wrong and shot the top of the target .
Shot 50 rounds and these are my last 18. I'm pleased with how I did for first time. Ran out of time as it started pouring they shut the range down.big mud puddle.
One thing I am disappointed about though, brought my little tool kit, cleaning supplies, everything needed in case something did'nt work right, but damn it went like a charm, no fails to feed or extract, sights weren't hard to adjust, nothing went wrong
The left target is where I shot my new Ruger 10/22, stainless, sighted in a 3x9 airgun scope. I found out you can't use transition (turn gray in the sun) eyeglass lenses with a scope makes it too dark!
Had a lot  of fun today.
So here are a couple of pictures:

Good looking weapon, and thats the main reason for it, have fun.  If anyone gives you grief on your target tell them that is the best your eyes can do at 500 yrds.

Algeman has the right answer, for "individuals" like me.

What do you need all the extra holes for? Why not just keep putting them through the first one?

Love my Tapco stuff! I have large hands and thats why I like the handguard works great for me. Like the grip and the butt stock, have not had any problems! That's why I built my gun to outfit it the way I wanted it. It works for ME.

Hey this is the first time I have shot an AR in 20 years, I used the "iron" sights got it on paper. then was getting it zeroed in when the rain came. I was using a cheap plastic bipod for the barrel, no sand bags, and didn't know what to expect. Shot great. I'm 61 so my eyes aren't as good as they used to be and haven't shot a peep sight in a while.

yeah that looks like my first outing too. I finally got my scoped sort of sighted in today.  I didnt' have sandbags and my 20rd mag is now being shifted to the trash can so I couldn't use the rest my buddy brought but I did manage to be able to group 5shots in a 2" circle at 150yrds using my 30rd pmag as  monopod on the trunk.

Not bad for a buckshot at 50 yards  Just kidding - it will start to tighten really fast. Plus its fun just shooting the damn things.

I thought your target looked pretty good! While sighting in my rifle my first the 10 shots didn't even hit the paper...and I supposedly have a good young eyes. Glad you had fun!

Yeah I just like to shoot, I've had my own gun since I was 4 years old, double barrel .410 shotgun. My granddad was a nightwatchman at a lumber mill in the 1920's killed two burglars with the gun. I started dove hunting with it. Over the years I've owned hundreds of guns of all types, get bored move on to something new or better. Live in the desert now have a couple of places to play with the jack rabbit population. I was a cop my son is a cop he got me back started on the AR's he's an armorer for his dept. Going hog hunting with him this fall.

Thanks for all the kind comments it was fun building the gun.
