Okay, so I've got my parts all laid out, following the instructions from ar15.com. Already got the bolt catch installed, got the mag release (well, bullet button, I live in CA) installed. Got the pivot pin and detent put in. (Glad Stag puts three pins in there ... one of them went flying across the room!)
Then I put the trigger / disconnector together. And that's where the problems start. The disconnector does not pivot freely on the pin. I actually got to the next step - putting the hammer in - and did a function check on this. The trigger feels good, moves through what (seems) like a full range of motion, but it doesn't release the hammer (usually) on the first pull - takes two - and if I push the hammer back while still holding the trigger, it gets hung up on the disconnector. It feels like the disconnector spring is either too stiff or too long. I know I didn't get it mixed up with the bolt catch spring, because Stag puts the trigger together with both springs already installed. Am I missing something? (It's a Doublestar lower with a Stag LPK, incidentally) |

I had the same problem with a Stag lower kit. The disconnector was a rough POS. I threw it away and replaced it with a spare I had laying around. The selector switch was also milled improperly, and had to be replaced. And finally, the bolt catch needed some metal work before it met my satisfaction (it would just barely catch the bottom of the bolt). Overall, I was very disappointed with the Stag lower parts kit. On a positive note, I like the notch-less hammer. |
| I recently had this same problem (hammer hung up on the disconnect) with a Stag parts kit installed in a Stag lower receiver. Called Stag and informed them of the issue and they sent out a new hammer and disconnect. Problem solved. (Pretty sure the problem was due to an out of spec disconnect) |

I had a Stag LPK where the trigger channel was missing a machine operation and the disconnector would not pivot on the pin. Everything functioned correctly, but there would have been horrid trigger slap from the hammer hitting the disconnect and forcing the trigger forward.
Check the trigger for the plunge cut between the axis pin and the spring well. It is a relief cut to make room for the body of the disconnector. Mine was missing and that was what was causing the inability for the disconnector to pivot. I filed material off the underside of the disconnect to get clearance to the trigger again. |
