Ordering a 14.5in fluted barrel for a a build on a stag lefty upper from Lothar Walter and I have a few questions before I do:
what's the differance between theses two barrels? 14.5 lightweight match .224-14", O equals 1.26, L equals 28.03" 14.5 lightweight match .224-14", O equals 1.26, L equals 26.30" What is barrel protrusion and how do I calculate it? What tolerance should I get for the barrel protrusion? Plus .002in Minus .002in Plus/minus .001in Can they install a ambi barrel extension? I apologise for my spelling I am on my iPhone if it helps here is the webite: http://www.lothar-walther.com/115.php |

Neither one of those are 14" barrels. That's the twist rate. The first blank is 28.03" long. The second is 26.30" long. Unless you're using this for a .22LR or lightweight varmint bullets, you'll need a faster twist rate. Under the contour options pick option #6000 for an AR15 lightweight match barrel 14.5" long. Under thread options, select AR15. That will have the breech end threaded for an AR barrel extension. You'll probably have to call them if you want to have the barrel extension installed and gas port drilled. As far as which blank to pick, the shorter one is a few dollars cheaper, and still more than long enough to make a 14.5" finished barrel. |
