I am looking for a top of the line bolt and carrier assembly…..What are some of the best and why? Not worried about the cost.

BCM, FN (if you can find one) & Colt would be tied for 1st because of the quality of parts, assembly know-how & QC put into them. LMT has fallen out of favor due to reported MIM gas keys but I still use them with no problems yet. CMT would be the only brand I would use but that's just me. You want a MPI bolt with a good extractor spring. MPI doesn't mean you're not getting a crap part but most of them you will be good to go on the outset. Properly staked gas key & chrome lined carrier are very desirable as well for obvious reasons.

Also check out Denny's Super Duty BCG.  Global Tactical had them for 140 last I checked.
It's a CMT w upgraded springs and rings and is properly staked.

Anvil Arms / Anvil Machining
I just bought and received an Anvil Arms BCG with a Carpenter 158 bolt (mil spec). Superbly machined, and finished.
Cheers

For some of the best quality bolt and carrier group (BCG) I would say Colt, BCM, Daniel Defense, and Noveske.

If you wanted something more fancy and expensive check out Young Manufacturing and LWRC.

Not meaning to hijack, but what is the difference in an auto bolt carrier group and the semi?  Also will the auto group function properly in a semi-auto and is it legal to use without a class III in a semi- auto?
