Do I need to put rockset or similar on the set screws?

Loctite 290 (green) or Loctite 271 (red) will both work well.

Clear nail polish courtesy of my wonderful wife.  My loctite is MIA

I thought about red, but I figured the heat would degrade it's performance.  Rockset was included for use with my AAC suppressor mounts for that reason.
Is green better able to handle heat?

Red (271) does not start to break down until 350F degrees.  Green (290), IF I remember correctly, starts to break down around 300F degrees.  I have never had a gas block come loose, and that includes the ones without setscrews, but that is a different story.

If using Rocksett (spelling?), make sure that it has hardened completely before use.  Sometimes the outside is hard, while the inside is still liquid.  So, give it at least 72 hours to cure...at least.

Got it, thanks for the help.

I used Rocksett as well. I read somewhere that Rocksett has high heat resistance, but relatively low torque resistance. I had a flash hider that I had placed a dab of Rocksett on and it came of fairly easily. Rocksett also supposedly dissolves in water.

Loctite 2760, or you could also stake the screws in

2760 is medium strength.

Whichever locktite you use, don't forget to dimple the barrel where the screws will sit.

Luckily it came dimpled.  I ended up using Rockset because of the heat issue at the gas block.  Thanks for the replies.
