24" Bushmaster National Match Heavy Barrel Assembly http://www.bushmaster.com/products.asp?cat=7\ nevermind, chromed. There are plenty of barrel makers who will make that 24 if you want, just will cost more http://www.hartbarrels.com/ |

ok so what if i pick up a 20in bull chrome since they are available and gunkote it? i gunkote my ak's and have a understanding of the process. has anyone out there painted their chrome barrels? You do understand that "chrome" refers to the bore and chamber, right? The outside is usually black. There are lots of 24 and 26 inch barrels out there. They are usually chrome moly steel (parkerized, blued or in the white) or stainless steel. See, e.g. Krieger's Varmatch at http://www.kriegerbarrels.com/DCM__AR_15-c1246-wp3394.htm. Until I read your last post and got confused, I was going to suggest having a nice stainless match barrel finished in black oxide or coated in a black finish like Moly Resin or Gunkote. |

Chromed barrels refers to the lining on the bore, not the outside finish. Chrome bores are generally easier to clean and last a long time, but you sacrifice a small (IMO, very small) amount of accuracy. |

ive never seen one posted for sale on any vendors sites therefore i thought they did not exist. here is want i want. 20 in heavy bull barrel, non fluted, no target crown, and in black oxide or painted blk. links? I don't understand why you don't want a target crown? Otherwise model1sales.com has heavy or bull barrels, 20 or 24", your choice of threaded or target crown, either black parkerized (option of chromed bore), or SS, option of 5.56 or 223 chamber. Pretty much built to your specs. |
