Will these gas blocks work without dimpling the barrel? It looks like they are long enough to cover both pin areas of an A2 FSB.  Also when installing an after market gas block; do you just keep the top of the gas block at 12oclock on the barrel, or is there a special way to align the gas port holes

It should be dimpled to ensure it does not move.  Once you've shot the gun and checked for proper operation, remove the set screws one at a time and secure them with high-temp loctite.  One of our members here created this jig which is an amazingly intuitive tool.  It will ensure your gas port and dimples lineup.  The $40 will save you hours of potential frustration.
