this is trickier than calculus. anyway. are these barrels worth a crap? http://www.model1sales.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=BCAR16&storeid=1&image=bar16.gif&CFID=53262724&CFTOKEN=82653976

model 1 sales? anyway what are the em-4's they offer? and how would i know is the standard 16" c.a.r. barrel is a m4 style or is the em4 what they call an m4 style? another thing, i am assuming that the 16" barrels are not technically legal until you permanently attach a MB or a FH to it via SS or blind pinning it?? I want to build my own because of the challenge and since of accomplishment but I definitely want to abide by every single law in the book.

M1S is kind of at the low end of the spectrum, but I've been happy with the barrels I've got from them.  They use Wilson blanks, or at least they did 3 years ago when I got my last M1S barrel.

they should be good for my first build, thanks guys, i can e-mail them about the feed ramps, now the 2nd question, the flash hider or muzzle brake needs to be permanently attached to be in compliance on the threaded 16" barrels?

16" is the minimum legal barrel length (Federal) for a rifle without an SBR stamp.

If the barrel itself is 16" then there is no Federal requirement for a pemanent flash hider.
Your state law may restrict things such as threaded barrels.
Since you haven't listed a state we can't give you a definitive answer.

Yes they have been using Shaw for several years. There are better but there are also some very good shooters in the mix.

To add to the post above on length. A barrel listed as 16" will meet federal regs w/o a FH. One listed as 14.5" or less will need a FH pinned on to meet federal regs unless it is going on a registered SBR or a pistol lower.

Pistol lowers save the day...$5.00 for the manufacturer to register them that way on their submitted paperwork. No BS Federal Paperwork, Fee, Investigation or Waiting. Gotta Love em....Just Don't add a Buttstock or Forend Grip
