Need some good advice from the immense pool of knowledge of the ARFCOMERS.

What lower to pair up with VLTOR VIS.

Top notch, limited subtle markings, and good value relative to quality. Billet OK, dont know if I prefer or not. Should I?

Sun Devil looks good, but a Vltor upper and a Sun Devil lower are going to be super tight, don't know if you want that.

Doesn't tight get loose over time and loose get looser?

A little bit, but in the beginning it's mallet and elbow grease tight. Later on, you'll probably still need the elbow grease.

Having a Sun Devil Billet lower and several different makes of billet uppers:

VIS
MUR
Rainier Arms Billet Upper
Sun Devil Billet Upper

I can tell you that they are not so tight as to need a hammer. They hold together well, have very little to no slop, and fit the lines nicely.

I would strongly recommend the Sun Devil Billet. Another option would be the GTS/Denny's guns billet lowers.

Vltor VIS and POF lower seem to be a match made in heaven.

Just put a Vltor MUR on my Gen III POF and it looks great.  Just a small amount of play.  I have KNS pins and they went in tight but easy.  Tried to post a pic but I guess I'll have to figure that out later right now it appears my computer skills are not up to the challenge.

I mounted a Noveske / MUR 18" SPR complete upper on a POF and it is sick. I received several comments at the range about this set up. So far it is the most accurate AR I have ever shot. And that is alot.............
Go POF and never look back.

Should be mounting my Vltor VIS Upper to a Mega Billit lower tomorrow.  I will let you know how it fits!

Got my VIS this morning from PK. A truly beautiful thing and PK is fantastic! My package arrived properly packed and with all the factory seals and bags intact and exactly as it left VLTOR.

Message to TurboBuick: Get on with man, and thanks! The Mega billet is on my short list but being a coward doing my first I am hesitant to order the lower without some solid reinforcement from those that know.

Others on the list: Tactical Innovations billet without the stainless doo-dads on the pin holes and their forged model in the same configuration. The forged one is probably a steal right now @ $ 109.00 but I am of the opinion that the VLTOR deserves a billet lower!

Thanks to all!

Just got my Noveske 18" SPR upper with VIS today from PK!  Can't wait to get it home to mount to my Mega Billit. Now just waiting for the TR24G's to come more readily available and my SPR build will be complete.

The radioactive receiver looks great but when will it be available and how much more than $175 (Mega) or $250 (TI 15BDX) will it be?

Spike's says 4-5 weeks and they are working with Seekins to get it below the expected 250$ from what I've read.  I would guess when they first come out they may go on sale at 200$ to get them out there.  The ATF variance is still pending and after that Seekins will start cranking them out for Spike's.

haha, I've done that w/ other companies before too
Never purchased anything from Spike's before though. I definitely will be as soon as those lowers are available.
I'm guessing Seekins won't be allowed to sell them himself, only through Spike's?
8/10/2009 7:37:02 PM EDT
[#26]
Correct, that particular design will be just for Spike's.  Now Spike's may allow other dealers to resell those lowers but they would have to be bought from Spike's and not directly from Seekins.

Seekins makes billet parts for a lot of places and even some of their own designs that they do sell are pretty nice.  Check them out... but if I do a billet job it will be Spike's. =)

I've got Seekins rings/base on my 5R + NF. I'll never consider anything else if I can avoid it.

i have a MUR upper on a tactical innovations lower and the fit is perfect.  i took out the tensioning screw from the TI lower because its unnecessary.  the fit could not possible be better, and the shade of black is close enough on both that some people have asked if i bought it assembled.

The Black Rain Lower would be a great option. For your upper. And the cost is in the same ball park as some of the other lowers in that category. Plus they ship quick. If you need any info on them let me know.

Please check the rules on dealers/manufacturers trying to sell in threads/public forums.  I believe you need to be an industry partner to do that here.

Black Rain might be the best ever but to me they are an unknown. I would prefer a longer track record of satisfied users. I know AR-15 lowers have become ubiquitous but that doesn't mean ANYONE can make one although it seems that way lately!

Update!

The MEGA billet fits nicely and looks like it is VERY well made BUT if anyone cares it is BLACKER than the VLTOR but not enough to bother me and I am pretty damn picky when I'm spending these kind of dollars.

Actually I wish the VLTOR finish was like the MEGA! Thats what I get for mixing brands.

HEY VLTOR, Please, please, please, have someone make a matching lower with your brand on dere. Or, maybe MEGA could make a VIS!
