I've been using a Colt upper for a while now that has the large hole. I've used the DPMS bushing to fit it to my Stag lower.
It works great- functions fine. I love the rifle. My main complaint though is that the part is loose- when you do a full teardown its easy to lose and you have to get it lined up when reassembling. Has anyone ever permanently attached the bushing to a large hole upper? I don't plan on getting rid of the rifle... ever... so I don't really care if it decreases the upper's value. I've perused Gunbroker and the EE a few times to look for an old large hole lower but I haven't seen any. |

I'd have it epoxied in there by now. Have you epoxied one before? Any recommendation on what to use? Epoxy or JB Weld? I have. Worked just fine for awhile, then the epoxy lost it's grip on the hole surface but stayed on the bushing. At that point I coated the epoxy on the bushing with Gorilla Glue, reinstalled it; and it's held just fine for two plus years now. |

Thanks for the suggestions- i'll try some gorilla glue

since it is colt you could probably unload it for enough to get a new receiver that has the right sized holes. why not just do this so that you have the right parts large hole 20" A2 uppers aren't a hot commodity. I'm perfectly happy with the performance of the upper- gluing a $1 bushing into place is no big deal. |
