I finished my Superior Arms stripped lower the other day with a Rock River LPK and the safety selector is somewhat difficult to move, noticeably more than my DPMS. Do you think it would be alright to snip a couple coils off of the selector spring? Or would doing that make it too easy for the selector to get bumped out of position?

Thanks

I know this may sound silly, but try flipping the detent over. I've had the same problem with the take down pins before and just flipping the detent made it easier. The end I had facing into the groove was rough and the other end was smoother.

If flipping the detent doesn't change things much try this before cutting the spring.

Loosen the pistol grip and try the safety.  If it loosens up then maybe for your gun, shortening the spring is the answer.  Dropping the pistol grip down a tad would effectively shorten the spring.  Then you can figure if you want to cut the spring.

Alright, I figured out the problem. I was using a Tango Down pistol grip, so I swapped the standard A2 on it and the safety functioned fine. The detent was in the correct way, but when I compared the A2 grip to the Tango Down I noticed that the spring protruded from the hole in the grip more than the A2, so I cut a couple coils off the spring to match the depth of the A2 grip. Works fine now.

Thanks for the help anyway guys.

Yeah. I actually figured it out like two minutes after posting this, but I figured you guys may have some good advice anyway. Thanks again!

Make sure that the detent and detent spring work freely.
