How are you guys who have finished 80% lowers doing your "safe" and "fire" markings?

I want something I can do myself, is fairly really cheap and tough enough to last.

I've been thinking of drilling one small spot at each location and installing a green dot for "safe" and a red dot for "fire" using these fiber optic rods from Brownells, any thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea, if you are into that sort of thing.  Never heard of anyone doing it.  Post pics when you are done.

I never bothered with safety markings myself.  Actually, my next build I am going to skip that safety all together for a cleaner look.

There is only one acceptable range safety standard that counts - No mag, bolt back, and an empty chamber.

you're not going to install a safety at all??   are you going to just remove the stops as well?

How would you see what color the safety is positioned-to at night?

I would probably pass on the fiber optics idea. In order for them to be significantly bright they need to have light enter not just hit the face. I haven't done this so what I'm suggesting could be worth exactly zero. I would think however that most trophy shops or jewelry stores would be able to engrave Safe & Fire with little problem and for a reasonable price.

My first thought was to just drill a dimple at each location and fill with the appropriate colored paint, so I'm not really looking for the dots to "glow" just looking for a marker that would be more durable than paint, that I can do myself

I can always drill/ream it later.  I will mill the nubs on the stops almost flat like my SP-1.  It is not like the stops actually do anything.

Never bothered with it.

I understand where the positions are and which one allows for the gun to go bang.

If I were to mark it I would use an "s" and "f" punch found at a hardware store.
