Good afternoon everyone,

Just received my 16" Chrome Moly 1:9  twist A2 Carbine style barrel from MidwayUSA yesterday and it arrived in great condition, though the round handguard stop sheetmetal was slightly bent.

It is came completely unmarked except for what might probably be the front sight's manufacturer's marks: a "B" inside a tipped square with the number 2 just to the right outside of the box. Could this be that B-square manufactured the A2 style front post??

Midway's product description said that Model 1 Sales provided the barrel and I think ER Shaw makes barrels for M1S. Is there any way to identify the barrel??

Any stamp on the bottom of the barrel?

They can be faint...
PS: CMMG uppers have the same FSB markings.

Good morning,

Thanks for the reply lamarbrog.

I've gone over the barrel very carefully and see no markings anywhere except the front post markings mentioned earlier. Guess I'll be very greatful to have gotten well made barrel for $145.00.

I'll be posting a range report as soon as I get Fulton Armory's clamshell style upper receiver vice block to properly torque down that barrel. I tried using my carpenter style portable work bench with a good clamping table, but I had no idea 30-40 foot lbs of torque would pop the upper right out of that rig. I've even heard reports that upper blocks designed to be pinned to the upper's pin studs have sheared off and that's why I went with the top hinged clamshell style. Brownells installation videos also use the clamshell style block with an insert. Should be here next week and then off to the range.

Again, no markings at all anywhere on the barrel.
