So I'm looking to put a barrel on my upper and I noticed that in the do-it-yourself forum it talks about "snugging up" the barrel nut to the right degree of tightness.  I've heard there's also a certain amount of torque that's optimal if you have the tools to measure it, but for those of us with just a barrel wrench, how tight should we go to ensure a good fit, but no over-torquing?  Thanks

Quoted:
Torque it to 30 ft. lbs.

Loosen it.

Torque it to 30 ft. lbs.

Set torque wrench to 80 ft. lbs. and then tighten to align to the next hole without going over 80 ft. lbs.

Done

The range is 30-80...you do it at 30 three times to seat the threads then to atleast 30 and not more than 80 on the final time.
