| I am running out of project ideas so I thought I'd build something a little more "precise." However, I'll admit that I could use some education on the finer points of precision barrels. I would like the option to use a suppressor...does treading the barrel and putting a mounting device (like an AAC blackout) on the muzzle a stupid thing to do on a Krieger or CLE Wilson barrel? Would that detract from the extra accuracy that you pay for with one of those barrels? |

Anything you hang out there on the barrel is likely to change the way it vibrates , therefore , the way it shoots . I do not know if it will change it for the bett or worse , but Murphy's law would predict it would rarely be for the better . :-( God bless Wyr |

This thread is full of fail.
A properly installed quality suppressor will increase accuracy. A properly installed muzzle device has no effect on the crown of your barrel. A properly installed muzzle device will not make contact with the bullet so crowning a muzzle device will do nothing let alone effect accuracy. Barrel harmonics are effected by a muzzle device but generally not enough to be noticed. Also note that the harmonic change is constant once device is mounted and has as good a chance increase accuracy as it does decrease accuracy if there is a change at all. If you want a good break with the ability to mount a suppressor look into Surfire Suppressors. |
