I'm a nubee at AR building, and while I was putting my first LPK in I  instantly found out how easy it was to loose the pivot pin detent and spring.
Luckily my head got in the way and I found them both.  So I got to thinking on it and the next day went to a local harware co.....purchased a 1/4 x 3 inch clevis pin that had 3/16 holes drilled in it.  with a little filing to smooth the outside of the holes and a dab of 5 min putrty I had an instant tool to use with a punch and easily install my pivot pin.  Now if I can just figure out how to take it back out so I can install a new extended pin,.... any suggestions?

If you pull the pivot pin all the way out there will be a hole that lines up with the detent.  You can push a small finishing nail into the hole to compress the spring.  Give the pivot pin a quarter turn and pull it out.

Try not to lose the detent.

Cool post....I did the same thing...had to file the ouside of the holes on the pin.  They were a little rough from the factory drilling.  The dab of quick putty just gave me a better fingure grip
