I've recently had some spare time to install a few LPKs and had a couple from RRA and a couple from Stag/CMT. Interestingly, the triggers and hammers from both brands had the same markings and appear to be made by the same company. But, I did note variances between the other small parts for each brand. In particular, I noticed that the disconnector springs included in the RRA kits were shorter than those included in the Stag/CMT kits by about two coils and stick out of the trigger much less than the Stag/CMT springs when installed. Although, the RRA disco springs "feel" stiffer than those from Stag/CMT and have flattened end coils whereas the Stag/CMT disco springs do not.
Does the disconnector spring length and/or stiffness makes a difference in the operation of the FCG? |
| As long as the disconnector functions, the actual length doesn't make a bit of differance. It's only function is to catch the hammer and stop it from falling a second time until you release the trigger and pull it again. This prevents a condition where multiple rounds may be fired with each trigger pull. the length variation is most likely evened out by the spring strength. Test that the disconnector catches the hammer in each lower statically. Don't drop the hammer without supporting it's fall when testing the seperated lower as it could crack the receiver.... |
