how do I get the bottom of the flashhider (solid part) to tighten up at the right spot.

By using a crush washer.

Lube it well and tighten and loosen it up until you crush the washer to proper position of the flash hider. Have the barrel in the barrel vise.

That be a crush washer. 'Big' end goes towards the flash suppressor.

Yep tighten and crush slightly.

Back off the FH.

tighten and crush slightly.

Back off.

Repeat until aligned

Try not to exceed tightening past 18-20 ft/lbs of torque at a time.

This cant take a lot of repeating.  Be patient it will eventually get to where you want it.

If it is more than a half turn out of alignment, take the washer off and flatten it slightly with a hammer on a hard flat surface.  Don't over do it or you'll be worse off than you were.

This.  Putting some oil or grease on the faces of the crush washer makes this process a little easier too.
