Anyone purchase a new defender lower and notice that the endplate was not properly staked to the castle nut? My new lower was QCed on 7 APR 09. Must be trying to manufacture lots of lowers in a hurry to meet demand. Easy fix (less than a min with my punch) but wonder if anyone else noticed corners being cut to speed production, mine wasnt even close to being staked right it has two pin size holes on the endplate with no metal displacment.

Sounds familiar.  Is your stock and buffer tube an actual LMT product?  Here is a thread with some pictures of what someone got, and a few posts down of what the LMT stock and tube actually look like.  Long story short, the guy ordered a plain jane LMT, and the dealer got one with a SOPMOD...dealer decided that the Tapco M4 stock sitting on the shelf was good enough to turn it into the plain jane LMT the guy ordered.

My lower from February was staked perfectly.  However, it had issues with the bolt catch and there were a number of burrs in the mag well that broke off and caused chips in the anodizing.  It only makes sense that as production increases there will be more QC issues.  LMT customer service is good.  The bolt catch was replaced.  About the chipping, Gene offered me the option of re-anodizing or replacement of the lower through my dealer, but due to how long those would take, I don't know if it is worth messing with.
