I know the PWS FSC556 is supposed to be both a compensator and a flash suppressor.  Are there any others that do both that I should look at?  Do any of them really work well enough at both jobs to make it worth the money to get one?

Go with the FSC556 and don't look back.    I liked it so much I picked up a box of them for my pistols and spare rifles, even the daughters guns.

I am curious how much louder these are than just a full fledged flash hider. Also I have seen video of the FSC556 firing at night and obviously it is not a complete flash hider. How does the Phantom compare to the FSC556 in flash, compensation, and sound. Thanks in advance!

No flash hider completely hides all the flash, especially with commercial ammo.
I have a photo of some flash test comparisons. No Yankee or PWS hiders are used though.
It may not look to good, photobucket always reduces the photo size for some reason.

The columns from left to right are;
Photo of muzzle devise being tested......firing M855 NATO......firing Fed. XM193(no flash retardant)

From Top to bottom;
No muzzle device
AAC Blackout
Smith Vortex
USGI A2
AAC M4-2000 with water
AAC M4-2000 dry 1st. shot, cold
AAC M4-2000 2nd. shot 10 sec. after 1st.

I saw some pics of Yankee testing somewhere but I haven't found it yet.
