| Howdy. I have my stripped lower and bag of lower parts. The pinned thread of step by step help on this site is excellent, it seems. Are there DVD's that add to that thread? (worth the money and time?) Books? Any special instructions for an old fart with arthritic hands ... thanks in advance for all information ... |
| Nah ..... the do it yourself thread covers it all pretty good. Since you got some arthritus, use some needle nose to hold those tiny roll pins. Make sure you use something under your trigger guard tabs to support the little ears when you put on your trigger guard or you can break one off. Make sure you don't get the trigger springs and the bolt release springs swapped. It all tells ya how in that top thread. Have fun ..... take your time. You don't really need to bother with DVD or anything for your build. If you get stuck, just stop back here and ask ......... it has always worked for me. Get yourself (download off the net) some of the military and law enforcement weapons manuals, they have great info for care, sight in, maintanance and cleaning. |

Yep ... thought so ... thanks for the confirmation and support! Now then, where did my wife put the needle nose pliers ...? I'm going to order a LMT MRP piston upper ... hope I live long enough to get it and finish the build |

check the training forums for ideas and recommendations: DVD wise, i'd recommend those by Tactical Response, Swarez, and Magpul––i would recommend either for REAL training, which is best imo
books: several out there, for what specifically: training on fighting or just on ARs? |

I know there is a video link that is in the How-to sticky at the top of the build it yourself page that helped me out quite a bit...just finished building mine today! Here it is: www.lifelibertyetc.com/RangeBag/Video/LLE_AR15StrippedLower.wmv +1 Watch the video mentioned in the above post, or if you want a hot link its in the second post (IIRC) in the stickied instructions at the top of the forum. It's all of maybe 15 min. long and it'll show you exactly how to put it together, as well as a few tricks. One of those tricks that makes the video excellent, is it shows you how to not launch your take down pin detents into orbit. Trust me on this... Watch the video! |
| I also had no experience in assembling an AR and with the help of the thread and the video it took me all of 40 minutes to assemble my lower. One thing that you might want to do that I didn't was to put some tape over the end of your needle nose pliers when you are putting in the mag catch. I didn't and the mag release button got some scratching on it. Good luck. |

I think everything is covered pretty well in the stickies at the top of this forum.
But Brownells has some online video's that show it very well. Brownells AR15 Videos |
