I bought one of the 14.5" old stock Colt barrels out of the EE back in August, I started working on it today, it is not an M4 barrel, looks like the manufacture date is 1/96. Anyway got the front site/GB off and went to put my new Vltor and and it is too big.

So How the heck do I figure out what GB I need and where I can get one? I don't have calipers I know those would work. Did anyone else buy one of these barrels to build a 22 dedicated upper since they were 1:12 and take the base off and could help?

thanks for any help. If necessary I can post pics of the barrel tonight.

can you run a tape measure around the barrel?  diameter = Circumference/pi

If the Vltor is too big, then it's a .625.
