I am having trouble getting the selector switch in the lower.  The rear part of the trigger is blocking it.  I've installed it just like the videos I've found online and the tutorial from ARFCOM.

Yes, the hammer is back.

I got the selector in half way by turning it until it went.  Now it won't go in all the way and is starting to rub the finish.

I would say make the selector face towards SAFE, and the pin will go all the way.   You may have it 180% out, like I did once.
But only once, cause I will make a new mistake next time.  Like that detent spring...

Take the trigger and hammer out.  Install the safety along with detent, spring, and grip.  Reinstall the trigger by sliding it under the safety.  Reinstall the hammer as usual.

Why not file down the tit on the back of the trigger base so it drops lower and lets the selector pass over.?

Every lower I have built is just like that,,,simply install the safety/selector first and then drop the trigger in and slide it rearwards and under the safety/selector.
