I have decided to build my first AR. I purchased a DMPS 6.8, had a few problems with it, sent it back, got it polished and have not had any problems since. Since I would like to learn more and become more familiar with the AR platform inside and out, my thought process has sent me in the direction of building one from scratch, and the fact that you can never have enough fire power. I have been doing a little research and have narrowed down the base platform, but would like some intelligent insight/opinions. It would be to easy to order one from a name brand manufacturer.

Lower - Spikes or LaRue?  Billett or Forged?
Upper - LaRue? (if not complete, any suggested other vendors)
Barrel - or do i look at a complete upper from someone?

Does anyone know anything about JP Enterprises Bolts and Carriers? I have one of their modular forends on my panther.
I would like a two stage trigger like my panther any suggestions?
Lower Parts kit?

I know that there is a lot of information that I left out or have not asked for, but that was the idea. Just some opinions on different directions to go in.

thank you for your help and time. - Mike

Guess the first questions would be. What style do you want? What is the intended use? Do you plan on resell in the future?

This will be primarily used for hunting smaller game and paper.  I like the flat top syle of my Panther, which I have an ACOG tr31 doc mounted.  I do not plan on ever reselling.  I have been looking at the 5.56/.223

If you want the LaRue lower, you have to purchase a complete LaRue upper.  If you just purchase a LaRue upper receiver, you cannot get the LaRue (Lothar Walther) barrel separately from them and will not be eligible for purchasing a LaRue lower.  So, some of your combinations might not be possible.
