| I had a carbine length PRI genIII tube installed by a gunsmith and the FH pinned and welded. I'd like to switch it to a rifle length tube and was thinking I could just remove the tube without removing the barrel nut (it has a low profile gas block) and put the new tube on. Then use the new nut and old tube for something else. My question is, which part of the tube unscrews from the barrel nut? The wide part next to the receiver or next step down threaded part immediately next to it? Do any of the hex head screws need to come out first? I'm familiar with D-rings and rails, but I've never taken one of these apart. Thanks for the help. |
| The 3/4" wide band closest to the receiver is the lock ring. Looking from the muzzle back towards the receiver you want to turn it clockwise. Once it starts turnign you will need to pull the forend itself towards the muzzle as you turn the lock ring. Once it has loosened enough the allignment pins will come out of the barrel nut and you can spin the forend too as you turn the lock ring. |
