Everywhere I look for parts for a build, it says "out of stock".  What is recommended?  Will most suppliers accept orders and put parts on backorder?  I'm a complete novice at this AR15 thing and I want my first build to be quality but not necessarily the absolute best of everything.  I expect to get the assembled lower in a couple of months(part of a group buy) and it looks like the rest of the parts will trickle in after that.  Not looking for specific recommendations on parts, just a plan for ordering and which are most reliable suppliers.  Any responses will be welcome.

I'd say just hunt around all of the vendors on our industry forum as well as Midway and Model 1, and check the Equipment Exchange and Gunbroker regularly. Since the frenzy began I've acquired quite a few things, including triggers, BCGs, upper and lower receivers, etc., generally at OK prices without putting anything on backorder. I've had to wait a couple of weeks for a few things, but that due to shipping delays rather than backorders.

ETA - Barrels, though, have been tough to procure. I have missed out on a few on the EE.

I've been wondering the same thing. Are there Vendors that are more likey to perform under the currumstances, than others? You guys are veterans of this field, us nubees are out looking for our first experience with these Vendors and could use a heads up if our back-orders are going to sit and be overlooked for other, higher priority, customers. Or, be treated first come, first served...as it should be.

Just keep looking through all the websites that you know of.  adcofirearms had a few lower parts kits the other day.  I picked up one for $41, but that was without the grip and fcd.  It only took about 4 days to arrive.  They had complete lower parts kits but I was upgrading the trigger and grip anyway so I found it unnecessary to spend the extra money.  Just keep searching the EE and websites until you find something.
