I live in NYS, and am building on a pre 94 colt large hole lower (current upper is A2).  Do you think the DD large hole upper and pin are the way to go, or an offset bushing?

While the DD is the way to go, I would too like to hear what some have to say about the offset bushings/pins.

Do you know how the DD upper is retained?  I would imagine the detent pin isn't going to work on the large hole uppers.

I have a SP1 Colt lower(large hole) and the offset pic works great...no problems at all

I know what you mean, I thought this would turn into a lively discussion.  Guess not.

I don't know about a lively discussion, but I would have hoped for just a little more feed back from the pit.  I too am comtemplating the exact thing FWIW, whether to spend $5 or $150+/- give or take, to have it rigged or to make it right is the question.

Or you can do what I did. Convert the large hole lower to a small hole.

How?  By buying two of the adaptor sleeves for large hole uppers that DPMS sells for about $2 apiece, trimming them to the proper width for the wings on the lower, and installing with the thin side up, coating the outside with Gorilla glue.  Install the sleeves, and mount the upper with either a small hole pin or even the shank end of a 1/4 inch drill bit. Make any slight adjustment to the position of the sleeves needed to get the upper  well positioned on the lower, and let the thing sit over night.
