Would this pass inspection? Used a .088" pin i made from the back side of the drill bit i made the hole with. Ground the pin down just below the surface of the flash hider and tacked it. The pin penetrates the barrel about .070" and is shaped to the same angle as the cutting edge.

Also is it ok to file it to reshape it or is it better to leave the weld showing?

That will work.  As for filing or leave it showing.  If it's done correctly, it's done correctly.  Leaving it the way it is may make it easier to prove it is pinned should you ever need to.

You can definitely tell it's pinned as about .05 of the pin is showing on the right hand side of the tack where it is flat instead of rounded(not the blow out on top of the puddle). Doesn't really bother me the way it is but does look a little gnarly

Wish i would've had a tig or thinner wire but went as low as i could go so it would burn in yet not blob. Think that's the smallest tack this 250 has seen

My new NOVESKE looks similar but more penetration with the weld tey left it undressed. I have a guy that will use a grinding wheel on a dremmel, grind it flush and with cold blue or a dunk in the park tank you'll be hard pressed to find it. If it bothers you drss it down and cold blue or Black sharpie...looks good nice work
