For my wife.  I have a lower, now trying to get info on the best way to put together the upper for a small woman to use.  Will probably have optics (older eyes)  I'm partial to Eotech.  Don't really want the hassle of a SBR but am open to your thoughts.  She is not very recoil sensitive, mostly the weight is a problem for her.  I should have picked up a composite receiver, but am unlikly to do so right now, due to availabilty and cost issues.  I do not think she will need or use all the space on a quad rail, but will advise her to have a light.

Help?

RRA came out with a lightwieght 16" barrel.  Whether you can get one or not is another matter.

SWDOC, Rainier arms had the RRA lightweight upper, I got one about a month ago.
Haven't checked lately. They may have one.

My lightweight upper build used a 14.5" pencil barrel from CMMG, with a permanent Phantom FH. It went on a 9mm upper (no forward assist or brass deflector saves a bit of weight) and used a Young N/M skeletonized bolt carrier.

I bought Del ton's lightweight upper for my wife's rifle. She really likes it. Its made me a believer in light barrels.

This is the lightest AR I own.

CMMG 20" Govt profile, Clark Carbon fiber FF tube, Cav Arms MkII lower. It's the lightest 20" AR I've come across. Very soft shooting gun.
The LOP on this gun is too long for my wife.  I throw on a different lower with a 6 position stock and a scope and I can't get it away from her.

SWDOC, aven't shot the RRA yet, been too cold to comfortably spend any time at the
range. No reason to believe it won't shoot like a dream. It's on an Anvil Lower w/RRA
match 2 stage trigger. I'll try and remember to post when I do
Thanks

This rifle weighs 5 lb. 9 oz. empty.  The lightweight barrel and non-FA upper help to reduce the weight.  Also replacing the slipover hider with a standard birdcage would help get the weight down to about 5 lb. 4 oz.
