Building a Stag Lower with Stag LPK.

All was fine until I tried to put the Take Down Detent Spring in but it won't fit.  The detent goes in fine but I can't even get the spring started.  The spring doesn't seem deformed or have the ends bent out to cause a problem and everything is lubed but no go.

I took a 3/32 drill bit and by hand tried to clean out the hole but no improvement.

Tried to call Stag but as luck would have it I was 15 minutes after closing time.

The next size drill bit is 7/64 which will not go in the hole.  Should I use it and drill out the hole?

Any ideas are appreciated!

Don't drill out the hole.

Sounds like you either used the detent  spring for the selector switch or you have two selector switch springs.

BINGO

That was it.  The Take Down Detent Spring is about .013 small in diameter and fits fine.

I didn't look at the two springs closely enough and thought they were the same size.  Just before you answered I thought I should take it apart and look at the other spring but hadn't done it yet.

Thanks very much!

Been trying to figure out whitch spring & detent goes where too
i think i got it figured out now though, trial & error.
I havent seen any detailed diagrams of LPK anywhere.
It would be a useful tool for first timers.

I did what I though was helpful, not.  I printed out a picture of all the LPK parts with labels.  I probably got it at the top of the forum.  The two springs and detents were grouped together which is why I jumped to the conclusion that they were the same.

A second LPK is ordered so hopefully I'll remember next time.
