I am building my own stripped lower and accidentally screwed in the magazine catch too far into the button so that the magazine catch is protruding through the mag catch button. When I try to spin the magazine catch the other way to loosen it, it cant go past the bump on the other side of the receiver.

Is there ANY way to fix this so that I can correct this and make the mag catch flush with the mag button?

Grasp the catch itself and pull it away from the receiver to compress the spring all the way while you turn. Use some muscle. You did it once putting it on, you should be able to again taking it off.

Use a punch or something to make sure you bottom the spring out, then pull up on the end of the magazine catch enough to get it over the hump.

It's also easier to depress the release button with something you can really grab onto, like a big pen, or maybe a dowel. Like Joe said, you got it on there somehow, just push it in as far as you can and take the little catch bar for a spin.
