Building my first AR - DPMS lower from the PX at Camp Lejenune, upper (M4 and A2 kits from Del-Ton).

Got a set of Roll Pin Punches from eBay - have a magazine block, and have the AGI video coming from Midway.

Have seen that Roll Pin Holders are recommended - but don't want to order an entire set from Brownells...

Bottom line - what size pin holder(s) do I need to build a DTI upper kit.

First post - could not find a new member section or would have posted there.

Ahh the roll pin cluster. on this site, under the AR section, in build it yourself there are some neat tricks, and great pics to help you.  One Ive learned, after 3 builds, is to take vice grips, or good pliers, and pre-crush the roll pin. This little trick helps alot for getting those little buggers started. Kroil, or wd40 lube too. Dont forget to tape the lower, this will save your finish if you slip. Have fun, and thanks for your service.

Unless your hands shake terribly, a roll pin holder is not needed.  The pin punches are great for starting and finishing, the visegrips for the majority of the push, and like he said, lots of tape to avoid the Oops factor.  Tape around the hole, and the jaws of the visegrips.

Don't rush, and don't second guess.  Believe in the directions.  If they were wrong, they would have been corrected 10 times over by now.
