I just joined today and this is my first post. This past weekend I just completed my first build:

STAG 2H upper
CMMG stripped lower
CAA 6 position collapsable stock
DPMS lpk

(SEE PICS posted below. I have a CMMG lower with 2A and US Flag engraved on it)

I just took an interest into AR this past summer and I have some accessories and ammo on order so I don't know how it shoot just yet....hopefully will arrive soon.

I wanted to start my next build later winter or early spring but with the economy and policital atmosphere, I may be buying an AR Kit very soon. What is the best AR kit for the $$?

So far I've read Del-Ton and J&T and stay away from Blackthorne. If you could include a pic of your build with your feedback that would be great!!! THANKS

Wait for gun shows if you can.  I bought a stripped lower for 140 and a complete upper (upper receiver, barrel, stock, and LPK) for 500.  Deals can be found at gun shows.

i always thought it was the other way around,  at least here, gun shows always charge more IMO

There is a deal in the group buy section of the Equipment Exchange on this site for a Stag Kit including BUIS less stripped lower for $599 shipped here LINK.  I can get a stripped Stag lower locally for $120, so all-in cost including BUIS is $720.

You're getting pretty close to the possible Thanksgiving/Christmas sales that pop up on this board.

I got a complete Armalite M4 upper last  year for about $335 or so.

I have two rifles built from Del-Ton kits and have built numerous others for friends and have had fantastic luck with them. Wouldnt take a chance with anyone else.

Good to here. I have a Del Ton on order. It's for my son. Our first build, but I have owned AR's for years. How are they in the accuracy Dept.

I havent put them on a rest to check group size but they put the rounds precisely where I am aiming. Dont know if I could use more accuracy if it were capable of it. I consider these types of rifles (carbines) to be short to medium range weapons. I can consistently put rounds in a man sized chest area from 300 yards with iron sights. If it needs hit from farther out than that, I have bolt rifles for that.

I think my next kit will be a Del-Ton or Doublestar AR Kit.
