Building my first AR, and my buffer retainer went SPROING and evaporated into a swirling cosmic vortex I call my living room.

Anyone wanna sell me one on the cheaps?

Get one of those magnets on a handle and sweep the room. It may be faster than mailing you one.

If you cannot find yours, just order a new one.  You should have some spare small parts if you plan to do any future builds.

Your AR is perfectly usable without the buffer retainer, it just holds the buffer during disassembly.

It is not required for the rifle to function, but it is nice to have when opening it.

Just finish building it and shoot it.

I have lost the front detent in my garage a few times,   2 hours once to find it,  and 2 days later I stubled accross the other.   I now have a nice collection of things that can fly.

PKfirearms has everything too. Of course shipping will cost several times what the part does

ETA: I would just run without it until you have a chance to buy an assortment of spare parts to mitigate shipping costs.

Home Depot can hook you up with a good sized floor sweeper magnet.  Can be a real life saver.... As long as your cat doesn't have a steel plate in it's head.  Can be quite and ordeal if so.

Then again I suppose the cat and magnet would make a good duster.

Tom, I do sincerely appreciate the offer!!!  But as noted above, I located the piece.  No need to send the part, but it's nice to know there are such kind folk here on AR-15.com!!  Thanks again!

Those springs are air soluble.  Opened my AR up after a malfunction (buffer tube slid back due to loose castle, exposing the retention spring) and SPROING!

End of shooting that day :(
