I've just purchased a rifle length Hogue overmolded handguard and was looking on here for how to install it, I  haven't seen anything specific to this handguard and wasn't sure if I need a different action block then the one I have to install them.  Is there a specific kind of action block or will a standard one suffice?

I recieved the Handguard yesterday and all it came with was the handguards, nothing to install it on the upper.  Can anyone give me info on the other parts I need to install them?  I'll post pics either later tonight or this weekend of the parts so everyone will know exactly what I'm working with.  But like i said, I have a completly built upper minus the barrel and gas tube.  I already have an action block and all the necessary tools I just don't know what other parts I need.

The Hogue FF tube consists of just 2 parts. You need nothing more than what's already on your stock barrel / handguard installation.

To install the Hogue tube you will need either conventional barrel vise jaws or an upper receiver vise block, a hammer, a punch, a small amout of moly grease, and a barrel wrench or strap wrench.

It's fairly easy to install....

1. Remove the stock handguard and muzzle device at the forward end of the barrel.

2. Remove Front Site Base (FSB) and gas tube by driving out the FSB taper pins from the left toward the right (as viewed from the rear looking forward). You can leave the gas tube attached to the FSB if you want. The assembly can be slided forward off the muzzle end of the barrel.

3. Using a proper barrel nut wrench, unscrew the stock barrel nut / delta ring assembly off the receiver and slide off the barrel.

4. Apply a very small amout of molydenum-based grease on the female threads of the Hogue barrel nut and screw it on the upper receiver hand tight.

5. Using either an extended pin barrel nut wrench or a strap wrench, tighten the Hogue barrel nut until the first available gas tube hole perfectly aligns with the gas tube hole through the receiver. Do not exceed 80 lb/ft of torque if you have a torque wrench. If not, don't worry about it.

6. Screw on the Hogue tube onto it's mating barrel nut. Hand tight is just fine.

7. Slide the FSB / gas tube assembly back into place. Leave the original sheetmetal forward handguard cap off. It's no longer necessary.

8. Drive the FSB taper pins snugly back into place. Insert right to left, with the small diameter end of the pin into the hole first.

9. Reinstall the muzzle device and you are done.

Here's one of my rifles with the tube removed showing the two-piece design. I use a cut-down FSB as my gas block, therefore I can remove the tube without removing any other parts.
