Well you guys have gone and made me spend my hard earned $$.  I’ve bought two SLR15 lowers (one for now, one for later) and will order a CMMG Upper today.  I’m a little lost on the barrel options, so here I am looking for some more advice.

My goals again are
1. Complete and unreasonable reliability
2. Reasonable accuracy – an old guy is able to hit a groundhog at 100 yards with iron sites (but will used optics as a rule)
3. Well balanced
4. Light weight
5. Reasonably non-corrosive
6. Easy to mount accessories
7. Won’t break the bank

I’m going for the SLR Grail type of rifle, I’m thinking a full float, chrome lined barrel with a front site (& lug to worry the lefties) in either 16 inch length or maybe a 14.5 with a Vortec FH.  I’ll be going 1/9.

The upper has the M-4 ramps so I’m looking for a barrel with a corresponding barrel extension.

So what do you think, can I find something in the $200 +- range?   Help me spend some (if not too much) cash.

There is a vendor in the EE that sells Bushmaster barrel assemblies for a great price $250.00 give or take for 16 inch with M4 feedramps, chrome lined, comes with handguards, gas tube, delta assembly, and roll pin.

JBRS has 16" chrome lined M4 barrels for about $170 + shipping.  He has them in 14.5" too.  I bought a couple of his 14.5 barrels a couple of years ago, they were DTI on Wilson blanks.  He used to have a deal with a 14.5" barrel and a Phanton FH as well.  Jack is good to deal with, I bought a couple of 14.5" barrels from him in the past, and was really pleased.
