Hey guys i figured this is the best place to ask...with the upcoming election i am going to invest in 2-3 stripped lowers to have in storage just in case...couple of questions Best brands Best place to buy for price Anything else my ignorant A@@ should know Thank you all in advance |

As far as stripped lowers go, I consider Mega to be right up among the top as far as forged lowers go. But if you pick any of the big name brand manufacturers you'll be fine (CMT/Stag, Bushmaster, Colt, Spikes, LMT, Noveske, LaRue, POF, and so on) stay away from the no-name brands, (model 1 sales comes to mind). If in doubt, verify 1st here. A lower should run $110 - $150 for a standard forged receiver, and $225 and up for a billet receiver. |

With one or two exceptions, lowers are lowers. You'll find as much variation within a particular brand as you will from one brand to the next. Stay with forged lowers and you should have no problem. If you hang out on this board long enough you will discover the AR brand of the month phenomena. When the board first came up, it was Bushmaster or nothing. Then Armalite came along. Then Rock River. Now its Lewis. Stick around for a few months and something else will come along that is absolutely the only thing to consider. Black rifle shooters are worse than teenagers when it comes to fads. |
Excellent post. So very true. |
