Hey guys, Went to install my trigger guard on my DPMS lower. The F&*^$ did not want to line up. Its almsot as it the grip end needs to be machine down a bit to fit into the cavity. I'm using a Magpul grip.... its NOT the trigger guard that comes with the grip. WTH? |
| I have the same problem with mine, only I followed the instructions and installed the roll pin end first. Now the end nearest the magwell won't line up for the little allen screw they have. I'm still trying to figure out where it's binding, because right now I'm only seeing daylight. |

Pull the grip off first off. 2ndly be very carefull what your doing, this is the prime place to fuck up your lower. Plenty of ppl have gotten overzealous and broke the "ears" off the lower. Take your time and TAP the roll pin in place, make sure that its not pushing on the other side of the tap (ear), this is how ppl break it off. Might wanna try diff roll pin also. |
I ended up using the "stock" roll pin that came with my LPK rather than the Magpul supplied pin. Couldn't get theirs to feed through - at all, and even had some difficulty with the other as well. I was VERY nervous about the whole thing as (to me) I felt like I was beating the hell out of it and was VERY concerned about the ears ... however, I finally got it all together and it all worked out. Anyway, is it possible that something (trigger guard area) may be "out of spec" on your lower ? Also, call Magpul and see if they have been getting calls recently about problems with this installation ...see what they say. ETA: Nevermind on the roll pin installation - I just saw where you said you already have the roll pin end assembled |
What do you use this for? I just got done assembling my CMMG lower and didnt have any issues. There is only 2 roll pins to punch (trigger guard & bolt release). The rest is just pushing things here and there. |
| I drilled the roll pin hole on the trigger guard just a little. There were also some small burrs in there that I cleaned out with the drill. Not so much to make it larger, just to clean it up some. Went right in using the RRA trigger guard roll pin. The coiled roll pins that RRA, Armalite and Stag use seem to be much easier to drive into place. |
That's about it. Not necessary, however, less chance of knicking the reciever on the BHO or breaking off the trigger guard ears. |
