That looks like a middy with a midwest industries rail on it. You could do a carbine length or mid-length. For the carbine length you could use a low profile gas block and have mid-length or rifle length handuards fit over that. I could be mistaken but that one looks like it has a railed gas block with a YHM sight on it. If you already have the barrel it should be drilled for a gas block or have a fsb pinned already. That would be the deciding factor. |

Armalite sells a midlength barrel with a gas block similar to that (if not exactly the same - hard to tell from the side/rear). www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=B15A4C&Category=a5c527d6-017c-40c2-80f2-59e99534f863 That is indeed a Midwest Industries free float rail system. I have a carbine-length one and love it. www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Midwest_Ind._Free_Float_Mid_Length_Handguard.html The only thing YHM I see on the whole rifle is the front sight stuck on that railed gas block. The rear sight looks like an ARMS 40L to me, and the optic looks like a The Leapers $15 foregrip and "plain M4" stock look out of a place on a high-dollar build like the one pictured. Both work great, but neither is at all common with those other components. I would expect a Larue FUG or at least a Tango Down VFG and a Magpul CTR or a VLTOR modstock would fit in better with a gucci-gear build such as this. The expensive Surefire weapon light, Magpul MIAD grip, notch-leg Harris (or clone) bipod, windowed PMAG, and winter trigger guard earn extra style points, but the standard Magpul magazine pull instead of a Ranger plate is so passe. I give it a 4 out of 5 overall. |
