I have the rest of my AR figured out. I have the LPK ordered and it should be here any day now. I know I want a BCM BCG as soon as they are back in stock. I know I want a 14.5" M4 profile barrel with perm. hider. I keep going back and forth between CMMG and Bushmaster. Here are my pros and cons. Bushmaster - Pros They offer the upper in a 1/9 twist, which would match my other AR15 and therefore allow them to shoot all the same ammo. I have owned Bushmasters before and they have all been good rifles. Less expensive Bushmaster - Cons That damn AR Brand Comparison chart makes it sound like they are not as good as CMMG. The lower is CMMG and I don't think the finish will match. No M4 feed ramps CMMG - Pros Finish will match the lower They offer M4 feed ramps That damn AR Brand Comparison Chart CMMG - Cons More expensive They only offer 1/7 twist, so it will fire some ammo well my other AR won't and vice versa I have heard mixed reviews on their reliability What say you ARFCOM guys and gals? What would you suggest? |
| My plinking ammo is standard 55gr FMJ. I have done a lot of research and this seems to be on the edge of what 1/7 will shoot. Some say it is too light for 1/7, some say it is ok. My concern is not having ammo that only one AR can buy and not limiting myself on ammo I can choose to stock. |
| Ok... I think I have made up my mind. The CMMG customer service stories do scare me a bit. It sounds like from what I am reading, the 1/7 or 1/9 isn't that big of a deal. I will order an LMT 14.5" from Denny's/GTS, Rainier or Bravo... whichever has it in stock at the time and have them perm. pin a hider on to take the OAL above 16" before shipping. If none of them have it in stock or a reasonable ETA, I'll use the Bushmaster as my backup plan. Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it. |
